Give Hope to a Child Today!Stop Children’s Cancer was founded in 1981 by a 10-year-old girl named Bonnie, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL. Her vision was to raise research funds to help other children and their families so that they would have a better future. Bonnie passed away in 1983 at the age of 12. Her vision continues. Beginning in 1985, the Board of Directors started funding researchers, equipment, and projects at UF Health with donations raised. Many of these grants allowed researchers to receive funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH). To date, Stop Children’s Cancer, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been responsible for over $25 million in research funding at the UF Health Shands Children's Oncology Department. Today, Stop Children's Cancer focuses funding towards research and supporting clinical trials. Facts:
